Last Thursday, January 23, Lafedar received a visit from a delegation of specialists from Droguería Universal S.A., a strong Salvadoran pharmaceutical complex.
Over the weekend, the Paraná-based laboratory Lafedar, leader in the supply of medicines to drugstores, laboratories and provincial and national public programs, was visited by a delegation of specialists from Droguería Universal S.A., a strong pharmaceutical complex in San Salvador, capital of El Salvador.
Thus, Eduardo Gutiérrez, general director, Mauricio Castro, commercial director, and Francisco Lazo, medical visit manager, held a working meeting with Ricardo Guimarey and Norma Neif, owners of Lafedar, in which members of the commercial and management team of the local laboratory participated.
The visit was due – according to the Entre Ríos executives – to the fact that the Salvadorans were on a trade mission to Argentina and that “they spoke to them about us in terms of their needs and requested a visit that took place this Thursday with very good expectations”, said Gerónimo Guimarey.
“The meeting resulted in a good dialogue,” he continues, “we agreed on what they were looking for and our technical offer and achieved an interesting synergy, so much so that they took a folder with the technical details of a good number of products manufactured in the Industrial Park of Paraná that could be registered and thus begin to reach the Central American country.”
“Lafedar is now operating with partners in 37 countries around the world, and we view this possibility of gaining new markets with great optimism as our focus is on identifying markets and reaching out with key products for the companies and citizens of those countries,” said Guimarey.
Lafedar produces a wide range of heavy, liquid, semisolid non-sterile, solid, liquid and semisolid sterile medicines (including ophthalmic products and nebulizer solutions) at its Paraná plant, which will soon begin to expand, according to its website.
Profile
The Salvadoran laboratory is represented by “Laboratorios Elea” from Argentina; Laboratorios Biosano from Chile; and Eurofarma, Abbot, Bayer, Novartis, among other important players in the world market.
It began operations in 1970 and in 1992 changed its name to Droguería Universal S.A. de C.V., becoming Droguería Universal S.A. de C.V., distributing and promoting medicines in general, furniture, equipment and hospital supplies.
The Salvadoran executives told in Paraná that the company is formally established in Guatemala, El Salvador and Costa Rica, as a representative and distributor of different products and pharmaceutical companies. Its professional membership is applied in hospital areas, medical visits, pharmacy, hemodialysis, orthopedics and traumatology, with the public market accounting for 52% of its sales, while the remaining 48% is applied in the private sector.
